William Scott Rice was the oldest of four children born to David Alexander Rice (1839-1916) and Berthina "Bertha" Naomi Kindred Rice (1851-1937). He was born Oct 1880, in Clinton, Clinton Co., IA. His siblings were: Olivia Levina (1882-1970), m. Stephen J. Kennedy; Alice Myrtle (1884-1960); m. Roy Frank Nelson (3 children); and Merrill Edwin (1885-1951).
The family had moved back to Ogle Co., IL, where his father was raised, by 1884, when his sister, Alice, was born. Scott would live in this county for the rest of his life.
He married Grace May Withers, and they had 4 children:
Helen Rosella (1905-1978); James Alex (1907-1970); Grace Marcella (1909/10-1987) and Merrill L. (1915-2001).
Scott died 7 Jan 1945, and was buried in Lawnridge Cemetery, Rochelle, Il. When Grace died in 1951, she was buried beside him. His parents and his brother, Merrill, were also buried in the same cemetery.
