ARTHUR C. BERGQUIST

Arthur C. Bergquist, 60, of Rt. 2?, Manitowoc, retired mail carrier, died
unexpectedly at his home Friday morning. He was arising for breakfast when
stricken with a heart attack.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Wesley Methodist Church,
Manitowoc. The Rev. Donald Stannard will officiate and burial will be in
Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
He was born Dec. 24, 1895, at Iron Mountain, Mich., son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. John Bergquist, and came to Manitowoc in 1920. He married Miss Viola
Hiese on Nov. 15 of that year. Before coming to Manitowoc, he enlisted in
World War I in 1917 and served two years with a rank of sergeant. He served
with the U.S. Army in Europe. He was a member of the Drews-Bleser Post of the
American Legion and the postal clerk union.
Bergquist entered the postal service as a carrier in 1923, retiring Dec. 1,
1953.
Surviving are two sons, John and William of Manitowoc; five daughters, Mrs.
Frank Kowalski, Mrs. Alvin Neuman and Mrs. Lee Kahl of Manitowoc, Mrs. Norman
Ploor of Janesville and Mrs. Jack Liebly of South Milwaukee; three sisters,
Mrs. John Holmes of Stambaugh, Mich., Mrs. John Rombouis of Iron River, Mich.,
and Mrs. Arthur Bengry? of Caspian, Mich.; brother, Ernest of Milwaukee, and
12 grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Sunday. The casket will be
moved to the church at 10 a.m. Monday.
