CHARLES BENSON (d. 1914)

DEATH TAKES CHAS. BENSON, OLD RESIDENT
An Employe of the Torrisons for 35 Years
Charles Benson, one of the pioneer Norwegian settlers of Manitowoc county and
for more than thirty-five years an employe of the Torrisons, died at his home
at 901 New York avenue last night, aged 64 years. Death was due to heart trouble
superceded by Bright’s disease from which Mr. Benson had long suffered.
Mr. Benson had for years been employed as caretaker at the home of Mrs. O.
Torrison, previous to that time having been employed in the Torrison company
warehouse. He was industrious, reliable and was well thought of by a large circle
of friends. Mr. Benson was a brother of Gunder Benson, former member of the local
police department, who was here from Chicago to attend his brother in his last
illness.
Besides a widow, Mr. Benson is survived by two sons, Oscar and Clarence. One
brother, Gunder, and two sisters, who reside in Norway, also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the late home
and at 2:30 from the First Norwegian church.
