MRS. BENSON DIES, HOSPITAL
Was Resident of Manitowoc For Last 80 Years
Mrs. Caroline Matilda Benson, widow of the late Charles Benson, and a resident
of Manitowoc for nearly 80 years, died this noon at the Holy Family hospital.
Of late years she made her home with her son Oscar Benson, 911 North 13th street.
She was removed to the hospital three weeks ago.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Wattawa, Urbanek and
Schlei funeral home.
The deceased whose maiden name was Caroline Christian, was born in Larvick, Norway,
in 1852 and came to this country with her parents in 1855, the family locating in
this county. She was married to Charles Benson March 23, 1880 and they took up
their home here. Mr. Benson, who for more than 35 years was employed by the Torrison
family, died in 1912.
Two sons were born to Mr. and Mr. Benson, Clarence and Oscar. Clarence Benson died
in 1927. Survivors are the son, two granddaughters and a niece.
