August Becker, 85, (above), died Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs.
Louis Ladwig of 1911 Washington street, Manitowoc, after an illness of two
months.
Mr. Becker was born in Germany in 1863. He came to Manitowoc at the age of
five and made his home in the city until his death. He was employed by the
Schrelhart brewery until 1923, then took employment at the Invincible Metal
Furniture company until his retirement in 1936.
Mr. Becker married Bertha Steffen in 1883. The couple celebrated their golden
wedding anniversary in 1933. Mrs. Becker died in 1940.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Ladwig and Mrs. Frank Swette, and a son,
Charles Becker, all of Manitowoc; also nine grandchildren and 14 great
grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements will be announced Saturday.
