Married to Sarah Erwin Benson, His father was Rev. Jesse Mason. Jeptha Mason was one of the first settlers of Greene County. Jeptha is also with his family and father in the Greene county history books. His daughter was first born in county and son first that died in the county. Jeptha was a farmer and gambler.
