6 January, 1942 embarked SS Matsonia at San Diego for movement overseas. 20 January, 1942 arrived at American Samoa. April, 1942 assigned as a Mortarman (MOS 607) in H Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines.
25 October, 1942 embarked USS Hunter Ligget (APA-14). 30 October, 1942 arrived Efate, New Hebrides. 4 November, 1942 landed on Guadalcanal and participated in combat operations until 8 February, 1943.
9 February, 1943 embarked USS Hunter Ligget (APA-14). 16 Febuary, 1943 arrived at Wellington, New Zealand based at Paekakariki. 20 July, 1943 promoted to Corporal.
28 October, 1943 embarked the USS Heywood (APA-6) at Wellington. 7-14 November, 1943 landing rehearsals at Efate, New Hebrides. 20 November, 1943 wounded in action during D-Day landing operations at Red Beach Two on Tarawa. Evacuated to ship, Died of Wounds 21 November, 1943.
Buried at Sea.
