On 11 Nov 1902 in Allegan, Allegan Co., Michigan, Artus married first to his sister-in-law, Mrs. Winoma M "Winnie" MOORE Sherwood, widow of Austin Mayhew SHERWOOD who was his older brother. He helped raise his brother's daughter Mignon Moore SHERWOOD (Delano) and son Horace Moore SHERWOOD.

Artus and Winoma were divorced on 26 Nov 1917 in Allegan Co., Michigan.

He remarried to Miss Mildred M. "Millie"BORN on 17 Dec 1919 in Allegan Co., Michigan.

SHERWOOD - Artus W Sherwood, 96, passed away Sunday morning at the home, 451 Thomas st., SE. Surviving are the widow, a son Robert of the city, a sister, Mrs. F. I. Chichester? of Maruette. The body was removed to the Metcalf mrtuary where he will remain until Tuesday morning when it will be taken to Allegan where funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 oçlock in the Benson funeral home. Interment Allegan cemetery.
