CARROLL E. DEWEY
Carroll E. Dewey, 61, of 182 South Branch St. died Monday night at his home, where he had been ill only two days.
Born July 3, 1904 at Brookfield, Vt., he was a son of Maxwell E. and Flora (Scribner) Dewey. He had received his education in Randolph. He married the former Eva Brink of Bethel and came here from that community in 1925 and was employed by the old Allen-A Company. Later he was with H.T. Cushman Mfg Co. in North Bennington. In recent years he had been a self-employed painter.
Survivors include four sons; Carroll S. of Deep River, Conn.; Harold W. of Bethel; Ronald L. of Hoosick Falls and Norman K. of Middletown, Conn.; four daughters; Mrs. Alvin (Ethel) Waters of Bell, Calif.; Mrs. Frederick (Elizabeth) Chandler of Deep River, Conn; Mrs. Douglas (Joan) Hill of Bennington and Mrs. Donald (Agnes) Huey of Walpole, N.H.; one sister, Mrs. Rufus (Esther) Dwyer of Bennington and one brother, Seaton Dewey of North Bennington; 22 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 pm at Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home. The Rev. Thomas Steffen of the Second Congregational Church will officiae and burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 and Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm.
