NEWTON COUNTY PROBATE COURT CLERK DIES AT 53
Neosho, Mo. Dec. 16 _ Nolen M. Russell, 53 years old, clerk of the probate court of Newton County died unexpectedly at 11:30 o'clock Friday night following a heart attack at his home, 506 South Hamiltion Street, Neosho. He had servs as clerk of the court for four years.
Mr. Russell was born at Wardell, Mo., the son of the late Dr. S.A. Russell and Mrs. Maggie Russell, who survives. The family moved to Newton County when Mr. Russell was a child, and his father practiced medicine many years at Fairview.
A veteran of World War I, Mr. Russell was a member of the American Legion, the V.F.W. and the First Christian Church.
Surviving, besides his mother of Fairview, are his widow, Mrs. Opal Russell, three daughters, Mrs. Thomas Ferrell of Houston, Tex., Mrs. Betty Jo Pratt of the home and Mrs. Harlan Matter of Camp Campbell, Ky., three brothers, William H. Russell of Medford, Ore., James Russell of Commerce , Okla., and John Russell of Wichita, a sister, Mrs. Mellie E. Coffee of Fairview and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the First Christian Church by the Rev. G.T. Kelley and the Rev. Thomas Gibbs, pastor. Burial will be in Hazel Green Cemetery at Boulder City, 12 miles southeast of Neosho, under the direction of the Clark-Bigham Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Guy Patterson,Wayne Slankard, Harry Stark, Harry Hatcher, Glen Morgan and Don Smith.
Friends my call at the chapel until 12 o'clock noon at which the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until the funeral hour.
