He was born on Aug. 22, 1919, in Rockingham County and was a son of the late B. S. 'Burney' and Edna Liskey Armentrout. He was the youngest of 12 children.
On Aug 4, 1940, he married the former Gwendolyn Smith, who died on Dec. 3, 1977. On June 9, 1979, he married the former Carol B. Keyser, who died on May 11, 1999.
He is survived by a daughter, Judy Miller of Harrisonburg; two sons, Bernard D. Armentrout of Dayton and James D. Armentrout of Jamesville; one sister, Fannie Shelton of Staunton; 15 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and nine step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Grace Elizabeth Armentrout; a son, Paul F. Armentrout Jr.; a stepson, Harry A. 'Andy' Keyser Jr.; and one grandson.
Burial was in the Linville Cemetery.
