Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Adela Jean Blackburn age 73 , passed away on July 23, 2012 from complications due to an accident.

Adela was born May 20, 1939, in Murray, UT to Michael and Pauline Benjamin. She married Sherald Dee Blackburn March 31, 1979 in Price.

Adela was a hard worker and made her farm in Castle Dale a haven to all the unwanted or forgotten animals. She was known as a lady who would care for any stray that anyone might drop off or just needed a home. If there was an animal that was the underdog or the weak one that is the one that became her favorite, she did all she could to help that pet survive. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and loved going to church.

She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Survived by her four children, Sheryl "Sherry" (Ryke) Olsen and Ricky (Stacy) Blackburn, both of Santa Clara, UT; Kevin (Laura) Blackburn, Ely, NV; Doug Blackburn, Castle Dale, UT. Also survived by 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a cousin Nina (Roger) Roberts, Salt Lake City, UT; and many dear friends. Preceded in death by parents; husband; and a daughter-in-law, Patty Blackburn.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Orangeville City Cemetery.

The services are entrusted to the care of Heritage Funeral Home.
