LEVANT - Guyla Goodwin, 83, wife of the late Chalmers Goodwin, died Sept. 17, 1999, at a local health-care facility. Guyla was born Aug. 11, 1916, the daughter of Chester and Myrtle (Moody) Byers. Guyla enjoyed horses and gardening. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, making family her life. She is survived by her children from her first husband, Thayne Hodgdon; two sons, C. Thayne Hodgdon nd his wife, Pat of Minot, Leonard Hodgdon and his wife, Barbara of New York; daughter, Thaila Berry and her husband, Charles of Corinth; the children from her second husband, Chalmers Goodwin; son, Chalmers G. Goodwin of New York; daughters, Guyla Eaton and her husband, Richard of Levant, Gail Bagley of Newport; and Faith Chase and her husband, Andy of Brewer; 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, two sisters, June Trott of Lincoln and Lillian Brown of Brewer; one brother, Chester Byers of Germany. She was predeceased by one sister, one brother and one granddaughter. Friends may call 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held Monday, at a time to be announced. Interment will follow at Waugh Cemetery, Levan.
