FORMER LOCAL GIRL, DOCTOR IN WEST, DIES
Dr. Bayles, Nee Dedrick, Was Victim of Blood Poisoning; Burial Will Be Here
Messages received here today told of the death at Helena, Mont., Sunday of
Dr. Martha Louise Dedrick Bayles, who with her husband, Dr. Raymond Bayles,
had been practicing medicine in the west. She was a daughter of Mrs. Nicholas
Dedrick of this city.
Mr. Bayles, who was but 27 years of age, suffered an attack of blood poisoning
a few days ago. Her mother left Manitowoc on Friday for the west and a sister,
Miss Helene Dedrick, a teacher here, departed Saturday. Neither reached Helena
in time to see their daughter and sister alive.
The body is to be brought to Manitowoc from the west Wednesday evening but
funeral arrangements here are indefinite.
Martha Louise Dedrick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Dedrick, was born in
this city. She advanced rapidly in her studies through the grades and high
school and was graduated from Lincoln high school at the age of 17. She entered
the University of Wisconsin, earned her bachelor's degree there and a medical
degree later at the University of Illinois. (Photo)
She married Dr. Raymond Bayles and they engaged in the practice of medicine at
Eureka and Townsend, Mont.
Survivors are the husband, one son, mother, Mrs. Ida Dedrick, sister, Miss
Helen Dedrick of this city.
