GOTTFRIED BARWINKEL
Gottfried Barwinkel, 58, of Rt. 5, Manitowoc, Michigan Avenue, died unexpectedly
Tuesday morning at the home.
He had driven his wife to Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, where she is employed
part time, and on returning home became ill and summoned his wife. He died of
a heart attack soon after the arrival of a physician.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Urbanek and Schlei Funeral
Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. Allen McCaul will officiate and burial will be in
Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. There will be graveside rites by the Masonic Lodge,
of which he was a member.
He was born in Duesseldorf, Germany, Jan. 16, 1897, and came to Milwaukee in 1923.
He returned to Germany in 1929 and the next year married Miss Anna Batz. They
located in Milwaukee and in 1939 came to Manitowoc where he was employed as a
draftsman at the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc. He was a member of the St. Paul
Methodist Church, Manitowoc, and the Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Dolores, a student nurse at Columbia Hospital,
Milwaukee, and Ruth at home; and a sister, Mrs. Leo Odenbahl of…(line underinked)…
