DEATH COMES TO MRS. L. BARTKE, PIONEER OF CITY
Mrs. Marie Bartke, nee Plinski, wife of Louis Bartke, died at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. S.D. Croll, 903 St. Clair street, this morning after several
weeks of illness brought on through a physical breakdown caused while caring
for her aged husband who suffered a stroke of paralysis last July and needed
her constant attention. The decedent was born in Germany October 27, 1851 and
came to this country and city with her parents when but four years old, and
was married to Mr. Bartke July 31, 1863. She is survived by her aged husband
and th (hole in paper) children. They are Edward Bartke, (hole) Detroit, Mrs.
S. D. Croll and Mrs. Ella Witt, both of this city. Four grandchildren also
survive. The funeral will be held from the Croll home on Saturday afternoon
at two o'clock, Rev. Machmiller officiating, with interment at Evergreen.
