MRS. C. BARTA DIES TUESDAY
Dies at home of daughter, Funeral on Friday
Mrs. Catherine Barta, 73, widow of Frank Barta, died Tuesday at 8:15 p.m.
at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Fechter, 509 St. Clair Street,
with whom she had resided for the last three months. She had been ailing
for now, for some time.
The funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Wattawa, Urbanek and
Schlei funeral home, where the body will lie in state after 4 o'clock this
afternoon. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Barta, who before her marriage was Catherine Krainik, was born at
Kellnersville Nov. 20, 1859. Her parents moved to Manitowoc when she was
a small child. She was married to Frank Barta in this city in September,
1877. Mr. Barta died nine years ago.
The survivors are six children, Emil of this city and Fred of Lodi, Mrs.
Anna Lewis of Oak Park, Ill, Mrs. Harry Simons of Lodi and Mrs. Joseph
Kaiser and Mrs. George Fechter of this city. She is also survived by one
sister, Mrs. Joseph Spevachek of this city, and eight grandchildren.
