HARLAN L. BALDWIN

Harlan L. Baldwin, 78, of 1114N. 16th St,. Manitowoc, died late Saturday morning
at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at Schneider-Mittnacht Funeral Home,
Manitowoc. The Rev. Leo J. Schmitt will officiate with burial in Evergreen
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Baldwin was born Jan. 29, 1898, in Iowa, son of the late Arthur and Hattie
Lloyd Baldwin. He was educated in Spencer, Iowa, schools and University of Iowa.
He married Ellen Irene Addy Dec. 27, 1923, at Spencer. They moved from Spencer to
Manitowoc in 1928, where he was clothing department manager at Henderson Hoyt Co.,
which later became Boston Store, which he managed along with the Oshkosh branch.
He established Baldwin Clothing Store in 1950, which he owned and operated until
1964.
Mr. Baldwin was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of Manitowoc Lions Club
since 1928 and past president. He was very active in the Lions Braille Club, a
life member of Masonic Lodge, F & AM, and a member of Manitowoc Chamber of Commerce.
He was also active in Boy Scouts of America for many years, serving as cubbing
commissioner and holding other offices.
Survivors include his wife, a son, David D., of Manitowoc; a daughter, Mrs. Frederick
Beverly (Babs) Severson, of Sheboygan; a brother, A. R. (Ray) Baldwin, of Oak Park,
Ill., and seven grandchildren.
A brother, Ernest, and a sister, Jule, preceded him in death.
Honorary pallbearers were Peter Wegman, Jerry Gilson, Harris Olander, Leo Prahl,
Elmer Fors, Cart Hallock, John Kaderabek, Paul Umnus, Gerhardt Kubitz and Clarence
Stephenson. Memorials may be made to Manitowoc Lions Braille Club or the charity of
the donor’s choice.

Passes Away Monday

Arthur Baldwin, after suffering several years from anemia, passed away Monday afternoon. During the many years he had resided in Spencer he was always an industrious hard working man until siezed with the dread disease which caused his death.

Funeral services will be held this (Wednesday) afternoon at the home at 2 o'clock and at the Methodist church a half hour later, conducted by Rev. O.M. Bond.

Arthur G. Baldwin was born in Palstine, Illinois, January 14, 1865. At the age of three he moved with his parents to Buchanan county, Iowa, where he has resided until about twenty-five years ago when he became a resident of Spencer. On March 1, 1894, he was united in marriage to Miss Hattie Lloyd. To this union was born three sons and one daughter. The other relatives living are the father and six brothers.
