Walter F. Baeckman, 87, formerly of S. 13th St., Manitowoc, died Tuesday afternoon in Park Lawn Home, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Urbanek & Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. Norval W. Kock will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Baeckman was born December 18, 1890 in Manitowoc, son of the late August and Louise Keubke Baeckman. He was reared in Manitowoc and educated in First German Lutheran School and Manitowoc High School, residing in Manitowoc all his life. He had been employed in the office of Mirro Aluminum Co. from 1911 until his retirement in 1948. Mr. Baeckman was a member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, former member of the church council, male choir and Lutheran Mens Club and a member of Mirro Retirement club.
Survivors include a sister, Miss Viola Baeckman of Manitowoc; two nephews, Bernard and Francis of Manitowoc and a niece, Mrs. Donald (Ruth) Cyr of Milwaukee. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Friends may call in Urbanek & Schlei Funeral Home, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday until the time of service. Memorials may be made to First German Evangelical Lutheran Church.
