Mrs. Viola C. Baeckman, 82, formerly of 1109 S. 13th St., Manitowoc, died Friday evening in Park Lawn Home, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Urbanek & Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. Norval W. Koch will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Miss Baeckman was born August 31, 1895 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late August and Louisa Keubke Baechman. She was reared in Manitowoc and attended First German Grade School, Manitowoc High School and Manitowoc County Normal. She received her teaching certificate in 1920 and from 1940 until her retirement in 1962 taught in the Racine Public Grade School system. Miss Baeckman was a member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid Society of the church.
Survivors include two nephews, Bernard and Francis Baeckman of Manitowoc and a niece, Mrs. Donald (Ruth) Cyr of Milwaukee. Her parents, three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Friends may call in Urbanek & Schlei Funeral Home, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday until the time of service.
