"Aaron P. Eldred, 80, of 24 Luther Sr., Oneonta, died Saturday, Aug. 30 at Oneonta. He was born May 20, 1900 in Laurens, a son of Archie and Mabel (Rous) Eldred. He married Janice Hutchings in Oneonta July 25, 1977. Mr. Eldred was employed by the Delaware & Hudson Railroad Company for over 50 years, working as a car knocker and carman. He had been retired for 12 years. He spent most of his life in Oneonta and also lived in Laurens and Morris. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Carman, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Oneonta Aerie, and the Oneonta Fraternal Order of Moose. Surviving are his wife, 24 Luther St., Oneonta; a daughter, Mrs. Ward (Edith) Loucks, Southside, Oneonta RD2; three sons, Benjamin L. of Newburgh, Donald C. of 39 River St., Oneonta and Kenneth C., Goodyear Lake, Maryland RD1; five sisters, Mrs. Seldon (Julia) Heller, East St., Oneonta, Mrs. Ruth Steiger, Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. Laura Palmer, Morris, Mrs. Stuart (Rachael) Butler, Florida, and Mrs. Strong (Naomi) Taber, Sidney Center; three brothers, Archie (Bucky), 24 Luther St., Oneonta, Sylvester (Bill), of Michigan and Raymond, Morris; 11 grandchildren; one Great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews and cousins. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3 at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta with the Rev. Gary E. Doupe, campus minister of Oneonta, officiating. Burial will be in Hillington Cemetery, Morris. Friends may call at t at their convenience all day and evening Tuesday.
