Mrs. Mary Ellen Beattie, 84, widow of Dawes V. Beattie, died on Wednesday at the home of her son, John D. Beattie, Newville, with whom she made her home. She had been ill two years.
In addition to John D. Beattie, she is survived by a daughter and five other sons: Mrs. Edward Strohm, Johnstown, Ohio; Robert E. of Forrest, Ill.; Dr. Benjamin M. Beattie, Chambersburg; James I., of Paulding, Ohio; Eugene W., of Los Angeles, Calif.; Harper A. Beattie, Illinois. One sister, Mrs. S. C. Tanner, Martinsburg, W. Va., and seven grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Beattie was a member of the Big Spring Presbyterian Church of Newville.
Funeral services will be held at the Shoop funeral home at Newville at 2 o'clock on Sunday afternoon; burial at Spring Hill cemetery, Newville.*
