Ole immigrated to America in 1857, settling first in WI where he was living in 1866. By 1868 he was in Lac qui Parle Co., MN, where he homesteaded in Cerro Gordo Twp.

The 1875 MN State Census for Lac qui Parle Twp., Lac qui Parle Co.,M N, listed Ole H. Steenson, 34, his wife, Sofia, 31, and children, Henry, 9, Peter Gustav, Anne and Jorgina. Henry was listed as b. in WI.

The 1880 US Census listed the family living in Lac qui Parle Twp., with Ole Steenson, his wife, Annie, and children, Henry, Peter, Annie, Jorgenia and Arnettie.

The 1885 MN State Census for Lac qui Parle Twp. listed Horace Crosby, aged 22 as the head of household. Also listed were Ole H. Steenson, his wife, Anna S., and children, HEnry O., Peter G., Anna L., Jorgen, (Jorgina was listed as male), Anetta J., and Olive.
