Leonard "Dale" Baldwin of Paonia died Friday, July 1, 2011, at his home. He was 66.
Mr. Baldwin was born Nov. 18, 1944, in Thedford, Neb., to Cecil and Stella (Swendener) Baldwin. He graduated from high school in Mullen, Neb.
He joined the United States Navy for a career in communications and security.
Mr. Baldwin married Helen Lane on April 21, 1971, in Suitland, Md. They lived on various bases around the world before he retired with the rank of chief.
He worked at AT&T and other communication companies in security. He retired May 31, 2011, and moved to Paonia.
Mr. Baldwin is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Winfred and Melba Baldwin of Caldwell, Idaho; a brother-in-law and his wife, Stanley and Bonnie Lake of Bloomfield, Neb.; a sister-in-law and her husband, Diane and Paul Steinbrink of Kearney, Neb.; five nephews; and three nieces.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Baldwin; his parents; a sister, Shirley Mayjack; and a brother, Raymond.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 9, at 1 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Paonia, with Pastor Sherry Mitchem officiating.
