Obituary for Rebecca J. Groom

Rebecca J. Brown was born October 16, 1833, in Platte County, Missouri, where she grew to womanhood and in her twentieth year she was married to Nathaniel Boydston. Three children were born of this union: Elizabeth Weatherbee, who preceded her mother in death; Anna Haller, and James M. Boydston of Eureka, R.F.D. No. 5. Nathaniel Boydston died in 1860, leaving the widow with three small children.

In 1865 she was married to Abraham Groom, to which union four children were born, all of whom are living. Mr. Groom died February 20, 1892. Mrs. Groom became a member of the Baptist church in 1847 and remained steadfast in the faith until death claimed her.

She was called from this life Friday, September 24, 1920, at the home of her son, J.M. Boydston, at the advanced age of 86 years, 11 mo. and 8 days. Funeral services were held from the residence at 10 o'clock Sunday morning, conducted by Rev. Claude Ruggles. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
