Betty's parents were Theophile (Tuffield) Patnode/Patenaude and Marie (Mary) LaPointe Patnode. Both of her parents' families were French immigrants from lower Quebec. Betty grew up in Keene, NH with 11 siblings. She attended Keene College in the summer teacher's program from 1916-1919. She was a teacher in Goffstown, NH, before moving West where she continued to teach. In 1923 she married Edward Abrams in Kansas City, MO. Their children were Dean, Janis, and Robert Abrams. The family also lived in Watertown and Sioux City, SD before moving to Washington, DC in 1942. Betty's 2nd husband was Howard Bitting and they moved from DC to St. Pete, FL about 1954. She loved working in her flower garden and was active in her church where she continued to teach Kindergarten into her 80's. Betty lived to age 99yrs. 5 mos.
