Funeral services will be held for Billy W. Collinsworth, 79, at the Bryceland Baptist Church in Bryceland on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 10 am with Dr. Richard May and Rev. James Lambert officiating. Interment will follow at Campground Cemetery in Bienville, LA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 5-8 p.m.

Mr. Collinsworth was born Jan. 1, 1933 in Bryceland and passed away Saturday, July 21st in Arcadia following a lengthy illness. He was an Educator, Coach, Head Master, Principal, and Superintendent in Bienville, Red River and Webster Parish's. Mr. Collinsworth was also a dairy and poultry farmer. A well known athlete, he was inducted in Northwestern State University's Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in basketball.

Mr. Collinsworth was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Alma Hines Collinsworth and one brother Clark Collinsworth.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Frances Blewer Collinsworth; 3 sons, Brad Collinsworth and wife Stacey of Bryceland, Brian Collinsworth and Frank of Foley, AL and Billy Collinsworth of Bryceland; 2 daughters, Cindy Rae Sprute and husband, Samuel of Doyline and Gaye Taunton and husband, Bert of Ferriday, LA; sister, Margaret Ussery of Arcadia; brother, Jack Collinsworth and wife, Roxie of Grambling, LA; 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Blake Taunton, Collin Taunton, Andy Talbert, Zane Talbert, Fen Collinsworth, Keith Collinsworth and Junior Pike.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Bienville Academy 1986 Basketball State Championship team.

For friends considering memorials honoring Mr. Collinsworth, his family suggests the American Cancer Society or the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
