Bertha Bob Davis, 89, a life-time resident of Lacy Lakeview, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 25, at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Woody Wilson, and the Rev. Nathan Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, at Lake Shore Funeral Home, Waco.
Bertha Bob was the fifth of six girls born to Frank Leslie and Hattie Lou (Templeton) Oakes. She married Kenneth Harold Davis, Sr. on December 24, 1942, in Lacy Lakeview. Through the years she was the ultimate caregiver. Her strong faith in God, a loving and unfailing commitment to her family and her church, and a servant's heart define the beautiful woman God allowed us to have for 89 years. Her lessons and her love will always remain with us.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Harold Davis; daughter, Claudia Davis; her father; and sisters, Lucille Maner, Sue Smith, Ann Rogers, and Patsy Bolfing.
Survivors include son, Ken Davis and wife, Carey, of Seguin; daughters, Sandra DeShazo and husband, Leonard, of Waco, and Peggy Means and husband, William, also of Waco; grandchildren, Jason Davis and wife, Christina, Shelly Shumaker and husband, Mike, Marcia Carter and husband, Steven, Joel DeShazo and wife, Misty, Chris Means and wife, Rachel, Becky Petter and husband, Caleb, and Tiffiny Shelander; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Bessie Lee Webb, of Lorena; and many other relatives and numerou friends.
