Obit from the Winfield Beacon. Esther Madge Crist was born in Coffee County, Kansas on March 24, 1894 and died on September 14 1915, making her at the time of her death 21 years, 5 months, and 20 days old. On February 14, 1911, she was united in marriage with Rolla Herman Cockayne. To this union there was born one son, Lorain Waldo, aged three years. Beside her husband and little boy she leaves a father and mother, three brothers and two sisters. In October 1910 she professed her faith in Christ and united with the Presbyterian Church and during the years of her Christian life adorned her profession with the graces of true Christian womanhood. The funeral was held at the home Friday afternoon, Rev. J.I. Dool conducting the services before a very large company of friends and neighbors. The interment was made in the Winfield Cemetery. Thus passes from our midst a most lovely young mother who by her kindly manner and ever pleasant ways had made friends by the score, and the deep sorrow at her loss was manifest on every hand. The father and little son have the true sympathy of everyone in this greatest of all losses, that of a mother.
