Laura Ellen Hackney was born June 2, 1868, in Clark City, Missouri, and passed away Monday September 27, 1954, at her home in Cheyenne. She was united in marriage to Douglas S. Coon, December 27, 1886, in Missouri. To this union four daughters and three sons were born. One son Ira, preceded her in death. In 1901, they moved from Guthrie, Oklahoma to a farm near Crawford where they lived, until moving to Cheyenne in 1943. Ma Coon, as she was known had been a member of the Church of Christ since she was 14 years old. Surviving are her husband, Pa, four daughters, Jennie Seago, Cheyenne; Dona Tunnell, New Mexico; Maggie Lucas, Durham, Oklahoma; Elsie Wells, New Mexico; two sons, Virgil R. of Billings, Montana; and Ralph of Crawford, 21 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, other relatives a a host of friends.
