Persephone Eurydice Athene, 27, was killed in a car accident on May 15 in Gainesville, Fla.

She was born Tiffany Nicole Boweter on Sept. 6, 1984, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Michael John Boweter and Laura Ann Rose.

Her family moved to Corvallis in 1987, and she attended Garfield Elementary School, Highland View Middle School and Corvallis High School. She loved animals, and worked at the Albany Animal Hotel for three years. In 2007, she moved to Gainesville. She lived with partner Leif Wisdahl and worked for Alachua County Animal Services.

She is survived by her mother, Laura Ann Rose of Corvallis; sisters, Shelly Boweter-Walker of Albany, Angela Boweter of Salem, and Daphne Boweter of Corvallis; partner, Leif Wisdahl of Gainesville; and nephew, Nikolai of Salem. She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Boweter, in 1989.

A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, May 25, at Suburban Christian Church in Corvallis. Donations benefitting Alachua County Animal Services, which is naming its feral room "Persephone's Room" in her honor, can be made in care of McHenry Funeral Home, 206 N.W.
