Mr. Campbell was a long time Garden City businessman and was interested in news writing and was a correspondent for UPI, Kansas City Star, and other newspapers including the Garden City Telegram. He worked and studied law under Judge W.E. Hutchinson and graduated from Baker University in 1917. That same year he married Laura Hazel Downs and took over the Campbell Abstract Company started by his father Chan B. Campbell. Mr. Campbell was a very upstanding member of the First Methodist Church and for a time held a local preacher's license and preached throughout Southwest Kansas.
