Raymond E. Burtch, 87, of Auburn, who celebrated 50 years in printing in 1978, died Monday, July 17, 2000, at DeKalb Memorial Hospital.
The Fort Wayne native began Burtch Printing Co. in 1937, the DeKalb County Advertiser in 1958 and sold the business in 1967. He had also worked for Auburn Printing Co. as a compositor, for Emmett Thomas Printers and the Waterloo Press. He was a member of the First Church of Christ, and Elks and Masonic lodges, all of Garrett, and Fort Wayne Scottish Rite.
Surviving are his wife, Irene; a son, Thomas of Charlevoix, Mich.; stepsons David Bard of Hobart and Phillip Bard of Auburn; a brother, Richard of Pleasant Lake; sisters Lois Deultch of Garrett and Lila Deultch of LaPorte; two grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alma, and a son, Jack.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at First Church of Christ, Garrett, with calling one hour before services. Calling is also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Thomas Funeral Home, Garrett. Burial will be at Christian Union Cemetery, Garrett.
Memorials are to the church or Helmach Center.
