ARNE ARNESON, 78, PIONEER SAILOR, DIES AT HOME OF SISTER
Arne Arneson, 78, for years a sailor on the Great Lakes, and later
a painter at the Goodrich yards here, passed away at the home of his
sister on Route 5, Manitowoc Rapids, after a lingering illness. He
was born in Norway and came to this country in 1861 locating here
and taking up a position as cook on lake vessels. After following
the lakes for years he settled in this city and worked at the yards
here as a painter.
He is survived by a wife, a son, Gordon, and his sister, Mrs. Anna
Mauritzen. The remains may be viewed now at the Wattawa and Urbanek
chapel, and funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at
two o'clock from the Wattawa and Urbanek chapel, with Rev. Phipps
in charge. Burial will be at Evergreen.
