Guy Alvord, 72, of 1410 S. Ninth St., Manitowoc, died at 3 p.m. Monday at St.
Mary Hospital, Rochester, Minn., where he had been a patient one day.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Wesley Methodist Church,
Manitowoc. The Rev. Donald T. Stannard will officiate and burial will be in
Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Alvord was born June 16, 1888(sic), at Freedom, Wis., son of the late
Ellery and Luanna Lewis Alvord. He married Addie Bowlby at Appleton June 8,
1912, and the couple came to Manitowoc in 1927. He was employed as a fieldman
for White House Milk Division of Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co. until
retiring in 1953. Mr. Alvord as a member of Manitowoc Lodge No. 65, Free and
Accepted Masons.
Suviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Berlin Schroeder, and a son, Lloyd,
of Manitowoc; two brothers, Frank, of Bellingham, Wash., and Ellery, of
Vallejo, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Charles Carter, of Black Creek, Wis.,
Fred Riehl, of Appleton and Mrs.Thomas Henry, of Shiocton, Wis., and eight
grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Floyd Ruzek, died in 1960.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 3 p.m. Wednesday
until 11 a.m. Thursday when the casket will be moved to the church where the
body will lie in state until the hour of service. There will be Masonic
memorial services at 7 p.m. Wednesday and rites by Blue Lodge members at
graveside.
