DEATH BRINGS RELIEF AFTER LONG ILLNESS
Mrs. Dorothy Altergott Dies at Age of 73
Fourteen months of continuous illness through which she had suffered incessantly
were brought to an end late last evening when death brought relief to Mrs. Dorothy
Altergott, aged 73, who had made this city her home for nearly sixty years. A
third stroke last Friday brought about her end, deceased having failed to rally.
Mrs. Altergott was born in Russia, April 19, 1852(sic) and came to this country at
the age of 13, coming to Sheboygan where she made her home with her parents for a
few years. Shortly after the family moved to this city where Mrs. Altergott, nee
Borgart, was wed at the age of 19. Mr. Altergott preceded her in death by eleven
years.
Surviving Family
Among the surviving relatives are eight children, Mrs. Henry Eurich of Chicago,
Mrs. Catherine Kauffman, Mrs. Dorothy Aschenbrenner, Mrs. Elizabeth Seibel and Mrs.
C. Seibel all of this city; the sons are Godfrey and Alex of this city and Henry of
Chicago. One brother, John, lives in Russia, and another, Fred, resides in Michigan.
A sister, Mrs. Emily Neurvicht, also lives in Michigan. Twenty-three grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at two o’clock from the Lutheran
church, with burial at Evergreen. The Rev. Machmiller will officiate at the services.
