She was head of the Extension Department of the Charleston County Library and later became head of the Children's Department from which she retired.
She loved children and young people and many loved her. She served as President of the South Carolina Library Association, President of the Charleston Pilot Club and President of the Charleston Deanery of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. She was very active in her church, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. She sang for many years in the adult choir, under the direction of her mother. She worked actively with the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady of Mercy, driving to the mission on John's Island and assisting them with transportation when needed.
She was a counselor at Camp St. Mary's for many summers.
She is survived by four sisters, Octavie Mosimann of Chicago, Ill., Louise M. Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Lillie M. Sexton of Fairfax, Va., Denyse M. Mouzon of Alexandria, Va. and one brother, James E. Mosimann of Rockville, Md., 24 nieces and nephews and numerous grand nieces and grand nephews.
Arrangements will be announced by MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 150 Wentworth Street.
Family and friends are invited to attend her liturgy of Christian Burial on Wednesday, March 12, 2002, at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist at 11 a.m., with interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Our King Church, P.O. Box 724, Mt. Pleasant, S.C. 29465.
