Gertrude Honigsfeld Ackerman - SAVANNAH - Gertrude Honigsfeld Ackerman, 97, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of Nathan Ackerman, died Friday afternoon, July 20, 2012, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Manhattan, New York, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Honigsfeld and the late Anna Horowitz Honigsfeld. Mrs. Ackerman was of the Jewish faith and was a retired dress shop floor manager in New York. She lived a lifetime of enjoyment. Her passion and love were spent on her family and friends. Grand Bubbie, Bubbie and Mom, she has inspired us all to live life the right way. While we are grieved to lose her time with us, our memories and lessons learned will not be. Each of us will take a special part of her with us and her love will be in us forever. Surviving are two sons, Dr. Larry L. Ackerman and his wife, Lynda, of Tybee Island, Georgia, and Jerry Ackerman and his wife, Bonnie, of Sugar Land, Texas; five grandchildren, Beth Ornelas and her husband, Daniel, Craig Ackerman and his wife, Shannon, Aura Welch and her husband, Patrick, David Ackerman and his wife, Kathy, and Nova Ackerman, and six great-grandchildren, C. J. Ackerman, Skylar Ackerman, Nathan Welch, Jacob Welch, Chase Ackerman and Mikkel Welch. And all of her friends at Magnolia Manor; in Delray Beach and New York. The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Sunday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service. Interment will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery. On her behalf, we ask that instead of sending flowers, place a donation to your favorite charity in her name.
