Bonnie was born and raised in Willowdale Township of Holt County, NE. She married Eldon Waldo and became the mother of one son. Eldon and Bonnie divorced and she married Neil B. Ryan in 1962. A stillborn infant was buried with Daniel Ryan (a son of Neil's) next to their grave.
