OBITUARY :
ADDIS NATHANAEL BARDEN, 67, of Keedysville, Maryland, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family at his home on Friday, December 31, 2010.

Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was the son of the late Hubert Quaye and Carrie (Tabor) Barden.

Addis was a member of Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church in Boonsboro, Maryland.

He was employed with Giant Food for over 32 years. After his retirement in 2003, Addis owned and operated Hawks Hill Log Homes in Keedysville.

Addis enjoyed travel, meeting and talking with people, loved his family dearly and was known for his love and fondness of babies. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Falcons as well as the Atlanta Braves and in particular loved anything Georgia.

He is survived by his loving wife, Vicki A. (Martin) Barden; his five children, Faith L. Cline of Walkersville, Maryland, Catherine M. Wells of Purcellville, Virginia, Douglas W. Kretzer and Brandi A. Barden, both of Keedysville, and Quaye N. Barden of Sharpsburg, Maryland; his sister, Regenia Keeton of Munford, Tennessee; his seven grandchildren, Justin, Stephen, Dakota, Brandon, Amber, Zachary, and Charlie; and his great-granddaughter, Makayla. He is also fondly remembered by his special friend Linda Webb.

In addition to his parents, Addis was preceded in death by his daughter Cheryl Villalta in 2009 and his granddaughter Amber Barden in 2006.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church, 134 South Main Street in Boonsboro. Rev. Robert G. Brennan, Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow at Beaver Creek Cemetery in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Friends may visit beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, where the family will be present to receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Viewing will also be available one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown, Maryland, 21742 or Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland, 21742.
