Bob was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He attended elementary school at Chester and graduated from high school at Mountainburg. He entered the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, Bob went to Oklahoma where he married Judith Martindale at Ames, Oklahoma. Due to lack of jobs, he re-enlisted in the army and served until his second honorable discharge. He was awarded the Silver Star and the Purple Heart.

Bob married June Plummer April 8, 1967 at Hunter and they made their home in Drummond where Bob worked in the oil fields for many years. He also owned and operated a gas station in Ringwood. He worked for Harper Oil Company and later for Santa Fe Minerals. Bob worked as a pumper, production foreman and as a consultant before he retired. Bob was a member of the First Baptist Church in Drummond and he enjoyed attending the Cowboy Church near Enid. Bob liked his work and he enjoyed his family, traveling and family vacations.

He had three daughters (Kimberly Stotts and husband Rodney of Alva, Robin Sweeney and husband Kevin of Plainview, Texas, and Mary Boulicaut and husband Philippe of Lyon, France) and two sons (Rory Davidson and wife Carolyn of McAlester; and Richard "Rick" Hogsett and wife Rhonda of Ripley), twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Cook.
