Mrs. Gertie (Schryvers) Plooster, wife of James Plooster of Iowa Township [Douglas County, South Dakota], died last Sunday evening; April 4, 1909, at 8 o'clock, at the age of 43 years. The cause of her death being pleurisy. She has not been in good health for a number of weeks but was seriously sick for only two weeks. She came to this country with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacobis Schryvers, from Pella, Iowa, among the first settlers in 1882 , and soon after coming here was married to James Plooster. Mr. and Mrs. Plooster were the first couple to join hands in the bonds of matrimony at Harrison and the ceremony was performed by Rev. Stegman. She leaves a husband and nine children, the youngest of which is four years old, besides a number of brothers and other relatives to mourn her departure. The funeral services were held at the First Reformed church at Harrison at 10 o'clock on Wednesday, April 7th, and interment was made in Harrison cemetery.
