After a fearful battle with that terrible disease, consumption, Mrs. Allie Latimer Baughman breathed her last at noon yesterday, in the 49th year of her age. She was born in Georgia, but came to this county about 25 years ago to teach music. Mr. Henry Baughman met her and loved her for her many charming traits of character and finally wooed and won her. Their union proved a most happy one and until death took him from her, her life was all she could wish. Of the children born to them, five survive, Mrs. Montie Fox, J. W. and Harry and Misses Allie and Dora Baughman, and they mourn as true and as fond a mother as ever lived.
A member of the Christian church for years and a Christian in every sense, she let her light shine and many deeds of kindness and mercy will be remembered by the beneficiaries long after her body has become dust. Sustained by a firm trust in her maker she was fully resigned to His will and ready and anxious to go to Him. Not long before her death she talked lovingly to her children and told them what to do to meet her in Heaven. The memory of such a mother will be a rich legacy to them and make them strive to live so that they to can draw the drapery of their couches about them and like her lie down to pleasant dreams.
The funeral sermon will be 3 o'clock preached at her late home to-day, Tuesday, by Rev. W. E. Ellis, after which the body will be laid beside that of her husband in Buffalo Cemetery.
