Entered into eternal rest, Louisa G. McKissick on the afternoon of Saturday, February 9, 2001, the day before her 87th birthday. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 noon, Tuesday, February 12, 2001 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL with Rev. Carl Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. Friends may call this evening (Monday) from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Mrs. McKissick was born February 10, 1915 in Florence County, S.C. the daughter of Roland and Mary Jane Bone Ard. She was a retired cook at the Midland Park Elementary School lunchroom and had worked at the former Schooltime Frock Company. She was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church in Hyman and attended North Palm Ministry Center.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Dolan W. Hanna in 1943, her second husband, Myrt O. McKissick in 1996 as well as a son, Ira John Hanna, a sister, Annie Matthews, and a brother, Arthur Ard.


Surviving are her three daughters and sons-in-law, Eunice (Samuel) Bateman of Florence, S.C., Beatrice (Monroe) Stone and Beula (Franklin) Spell, both of North Charleston. Eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter also survive. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Florence Altman of Murrell's Inlet, S.C., her step sons, Burnette (Jennifer) McKissick and O'Neal (Merlene) McKissick, both of Columbia, S.C., four step grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.
