Roy E. Barnett, age 70, of Sweetwater, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at the family home. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sweetwater. A veteran of the U.S. Army, and a retired owner and operator of television cable companies. Preceded in death by his parents: Ed and Lucile Barnett, brothers-in-law: Clyde Farrell, and Wendell Walker. Survivors include his wife of 42 years: Madeline Barnett, sons and daughter-in-law: David Murrell, all of Sweetwater, Darrell and Karen Barnett, of Tellico Plains, grandson: Dave Murrell and family, granddaughter: Nikki Barnett, grandson: Hunter Barnett, great-granddaughters: Ivey and Gracie Murrell, sisters and brothers-in-law: Georgia Farrell, of CA., Betty and Austin McConkey, of Madisonville, Edna and Tom Sweat, of Sweetwater, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Mary Frances and Harold Gudger, and Maxine Walker, all of Tellico Plains, several nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. The body is at Kyker Funeral Homes, Sweetwater, where the family will receive friends on Saturday, July 21, 2012, from 9:00A.M. until 10:00A.M.
