Wilma P. (Hawes) Ross, 87, of Manchester, beloved wife of the late John F. Ross III, died Wednesday (October 12, 2011) at Manchester Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 23, 1924 in Parrsboro, Nova Scotia, Canada, daughter of the late William I. & Anne (York) Hawes. She came to this country as a young girl, was raised in the Boston area and had been a resident of Manchester since 1947.

Mrs. Ross is survived by three children, W. Rochelle Scheibenpflug and her husband Joseph, Attorney Daryl F. Ross and his partner Frances Reese, Melanie Christiansen and her husband Terry all of Manchester; three grandchildren, Melissa Silberberg and her husband Matthew also of Manchester, Matthew Ross and his wife Kelly McDougal-Ross of Bolton and Amy Scheibenpflug of Manchester; five great grandchildren, Sarah, Ryan and Emily Silberberg, Briana and Emma Ross; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Barbara G. Ross; her grandson David Christiansen; and eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be private with burial in the East Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Manchester Area Conference of Churches, M.A.C.C., P.O.
