As per note as to where he died during the Civil War the Civil was was over in 1865 2 years before his death So he did not serve that War.

John was the son of John Abbott of Bethel, Oxford County, Maine and Sarah Ackley of Rumford, Oxford County, Maine. Sarah and John were married on 31 March 1841 in Rumford, Oxford County, Maine. Sarah and John had eight children. They were: Mary Jane Abbott was born in 1847; John T. Abbott was born on 25 December 1841; John T. Abbott was born on 13 April 1845; Samuel Abbott was born on 09 June 1851; Lydia Abbott was born on 01 August 1857; George A. Abbott was born on 09 September 1859; Frank Abbott was born on 06 February 1862; and Morton T. Abbott was born on 14 February 1868. All the children were born in Bethel, Oxford County, Maine.

John was twenty-two years old when he died.
