Garland Lee "Doc" Trammell Sr., 79, of Grottoes, passed away July 17, 2012. He was a son of the late Roy Ashby and Nellie Kephart Trammell and was born in Herndon, Va., on Feb. 4, 1933.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean conflict. Doc was a past member of the N.R.A and enjoyed reading about the Civil War. He was employed as master plumber and was also known to tinker with many different hobbies. Doc was a proud family man and enjoyed having his family close by.
On Feb. 10, 1967, he married the former Janet Louise Gooden, who preceded him in death Dec. 1, 2010.
Surviving are two sons, Alan Dale Trammell and wife, Dora, of Lacey Spring and Garland L. "C.H." Trammell Jr. of Mount Crawford; three daughters, Deborah T. Davis, Donna Propst and Diann Trammell and partner, Cathy Edwards, all of Grottoes; six grandchildren; one stepgrandson and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2012, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Wayne Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
