Doug graduated from Owatonna High School.

The USA Army was where he chose to serve his country during the Korean War, working in radio and communications. After an honorable discharge from military service, Doug worked for AT&T for 35 years until his retirement.

Doug was married around 1976, to Linda Sue Berens.

Doug and Linda moved to the Ranch of the Rockies in Hartsel, Colorado, in 1997, where they built their retirement home.

Doug was active in the American Legion, serving as commander of Post #55 in Buena Vista, Colorado, from 2006 to 2008. He served as adjutant of the post for several years as well.

Hobbies included golfing, fishing and playing cribbage with his friends from the Legion and VFW Posts in Buena Vista.

Douglas Leroy Bjorklund passed away Monday, August 18, 2008 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, in Lakewood, Colorado.

Surviving Doug were his wife, three daughters of Lakewood, Colorado, Santa Fe, New Mexico and San Diego, California; a stepson of Grapevine, Texas; two sisters of Georgetown, Delaware and Medford, Minnesota; two brothers both of St. Paul, Minnesota.

A Memorial Service was at the American Legion Post #55 at Railroad and Arkansas Streets in Buena Vista at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 24. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the American Legion to be used in its scholarship program.
