H. B. Standiford,
died 2 January 1858, aged 38 years 7 months and 30 days.
"Mr. Standiford was the founder of Stanton". He was also a Mason. Hiram B. Standiford was the son of Ephraim and Margaret Brashears. He was married 1. to Elizabeth D. Kincaid on December 10, 1835 in Crawford County, Indiana. He married 2. Frances Nolen on March 20, 1845 in Cass County, Missouri. In public life he was an uncompromising Free-state man; firm, but not vindictive, active, but not revengeful. He had been an anti-slavery member of the Missouri Legislature and came to Kansas in the spring of 11855, locating near the town of Stanton, where he took up his residence. He attended the special session of the Legislature which assembled at Lecompton, December 7, 1855, and died the day previous to the meeting of that body in regular sessions.

Was he a member of the 1857 Lecompton, KS legislature? Or the Topeka, KS abolitionist legislature?

My 3rd great-grandparents ( moved north of Stanton, KS about 1 mile in Aug. 1855. They quickly moved to Cass County, MO August 14, 1856 after a raid on their home.( 50298335). Both my 3rd great-grandparents were born in Montgomery County, KY and we've learned that my 3rd great-grandmother's first cousin married a Boone there. I was curious to know where Hiram obtained his 2nd name?
